With the help of her rescue cat, Eddie, librarian Minnie Hamilton is driving a bookmobile based in the resort town of Chilson, Michigan. But she'd better keep both hands on the wheel, because it's going to be a bumpy ride...

Eddie followed Minnie home one day, and now she can't seem to shake the furry little shadow. But in spite of her efforts to contain her new pal, the tabby sneaks out and trails her all the way to the bookmobile on its maiden voyage. Before she knows it, her slinky stowaway becomes her cat co-pilot!

Minnie and Eddie's first day visiting readers around the county seems to pass without trouble--until Eddie darts outside at the last stop and leads her to the body of a local man who's reached his final chapter.

Initially, Minnie is ready to let the police handle this case, but Eddie seems to smell a rat. Together, they'll work to find the killer--because a good librarian always knows when justice is overdue.

Lending a Paw is the first book in the series by Laurie Cass. In this book, the main character Minnie is a librarian who also runs the bookmobile. In each book in the series, Minnie and her cat Eddie always end up helping solve a murder mystery (even if they aren’t supposed to be helping). I really enjoyed this book as it’s an easy read and there’s just something about the book that feels very comforting. It’s also very amusing to see what her cat Eddie will find and the different ways this smart little cat is able to help her put the clues together. I highly recommend this book especially to those who enjoy murder mysteries. I believe that this book is something that if not everyone, then almost everyone can enjoy. 4/5. @novelidea of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board

Easy to read and entertaining

Lending a Paw is, quite simply, an enjoyable and light-hearted, well-written cozy. With a loveable animal sidekick, a charismatic and down-to-earth main character, and a plot supported by the character's growing relationships, this is a cozy you must have on your to-read list.
Since I work in a library, I absolutely love the (pretty realistic) depiction of library staff life.
Although this may not be a stunning new literary work, Cass' fun romp is one of the best cozies I've read in that it deals with events in a realistic way. Her writing skill is above average, and the mystery kept me guessing until the end (although, maybe I'm just not cut out to be a detective). Not only does Lending a Paw meet the standards I expect from a cozy mystery, it far exceeds!

This was a fun read. Some of the details are a little off, but Eddie allows you to ignore them.

Loved Eddie the cat and all the Michigan references.
