"Picking up 25 years after the end of the second season, the show follows FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan)’s odyssey back to the town of Twin Peaks. After escaping the Black Lodge he mistakenly takes the place of his doppelgänger [sic] Dougie Jones, who lives in Las Vegas with his wife Janey-E (Naomi Watts) and son Sonny Jim (Pierce Gagnon) in a state of catatonia, while his evil doppelgänger is left to roam free on his violent crusade. Meanwhile, the Twin Peaks Sheriff Department and FBI Deputy Director Gordon Cole (David Lynch) and Agent Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer) continue their search for the real Special Agent Cooper. The cast also includes Sheryl Lee, Laura Dern, Michael Horse, Kimmy Robertson and Mädchen Amick."--

A pure treat from start to finish. This is a total smorgasbord, at once compellingly esoteric and satisfyingly low-brow. There is gratuitous violence married with metaphysical speculation of the afterlife. Each episode is usually capped by a musical performance at the Bang-Bang Bar. The last episode is chilling.

Really enjoyed the original 1990 series and looked forward to this one, but it was so nonlinear that we could not follow the story and we gave up after 4 episodes.

Like the original series, parts of The Return are brilliant, parts are confusing, and parts seem to be filler. The 18-episode run could have easily been cut down to twelve for better pacing - and that's said as a huge Twin Peaks fan... some scenes absolutely feel like just padding out the running time. That said, there are a number of amazing scenes throughout as we are introduced to characters that we get to know and love, and reintroduced to old faces to see what they've been up to. Kyle MacLachlan plays three roles in style, and he's really the backbone of this season. Just be prepared for a final episode that will leave questions unanswered - but that is Lynch's style, to leave us wanting more.

" Twin Peaks: The Return " isn't a true follow-up to Twin Peaks. It's something bigger, stranger, and far more interesting.
