This book is not only an analysis of demographic and political realities in Europe, but also an eyewitness account of a continent in self-destruct mode. It includes reporting from across the entire continent, from the places where migrants land to the places they end up, from the people who appear to welcome them in to the places which cannot accept them.

It was difficult to know how to rate or review this book. On the one hand, it is well-worth reading, and there are some definite pearls here. But you do need to dig for them. There was much I disagreed with; Murray's most effective chapters are when he allowed the facts to speak for themselves and did not tell the reader how to interpret them. Perhaps the most concise review is from Amir Taheri, located on the inside jacket: "Whether one agrees with him or not Murray has made a valuable contribution to the global battle of ideas."

Douglas Murray is a real gem, a true talent of the social sciences, not just another rabid ideologue. He distills a serious and complex issue that is so bogged down with political football, distortions and a maze of obfuscations from the political class, and presents his case about cultural suicide with rare clarity and precision. This readable, engrossing book delves into some history that led up to this which broadens perspective, and it sheds light on the the fan dancing and lies of politicians, as well as politically motivated academics and journalists when it comes to this issue. I really appreciated the way he hones in on the psychology of mass delusion basically, and most of all the irrefutable fact that ignoring assimilation leads to cultural surrender. The consistency and time he took with going into the suicidal, pathological altruism that has become part of the DNA of the Western consensus and the collective insanity that creates is great. Most of Murray's harshest critics are nothing more than the kind of near sighted ideologues whose political posturing he goes to extensive lengths to expose in this book.

This is an important if troubling book. Douglas Murray is a British political commentator who was educated at Eton and Oxford. He analyzes the recent history of European immigration and argues that if immigration continues at its current levels this could lead to the death of European civilization. He argues that Europe, as we know it, will cease to exist within the lifespans of most people alive today. The expectation of most politicians is that the arrivals into Europe would become European. He argues that it is more likely that Europe will increasingly look like the Third World.

This is an excellent explanation and analysis of the current problems facing Europe. It is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand what's going on in Europe, and it is timely for how pressing these issues are. The book is highly critical of the political classes for ignoring the wishes and opinions of the public in regards to immigration levels and the impact of Islam. Few politicians are able to speak honestly and openly about it, showing how out of touch they are with their voters. The recent migrant crisis features prominently, and Murray demonstrates how the politicians failed in their response to it. There are many in doubt that large numbers of people entering a continent who do not share the values of its people is a bad thing, or that there is a problem with Islam. To them, they absolutely must read this book.

This is an excellent essay on the role of immigration and specifically Islamic immigration on the future of Europe. This book is an opinion, not a scholarly work though it is fairly well annotated. For me, the best take away of this book is the inability to have an adult discussion about the benefits and drawbacks of immigration without being branded racist. One specific argument in the author's work is the asymmetrical harm that is inflicted when people are accused of being racist or fascist when they are not and the perpetrator of that injustice faces no consequence for that action. One other aspect of this essay that is surprising is that so many liberal minded people want to encourage so many people who do not agree with their views into their country. It is hard to know for sure what the future will hold but it seems a strange experiment. Whatever your take on immigration into Europe is, this is a worthwhile book to read.

This is an outstanding synthesis of the problems Europe, indeed most of the western world, is facing as the tide of Muslim migrants continues to flow seemingly unabated into our countries. Douglas Murray is raising the alarm in this well researched and well written analysis. We must not continue to cave to pressure to not only take in ever-increasing numbers of self-described "refugees" whilst also being soft on the monstrous Islamic doctrine such that it is allowed to flourish while we cower under cover of political correctness for fear of "offending". Too often those who are actually informed of the truth of what Islam stands for are attacked by ignoramuses who are unwilling to let truth interfere with opinion based on little more than a blind faith. Douglas Murray has a sound grasp of the issues and marshalls up a compelling argument against mass immigration of Muslims into western countries. An excellent debater and commentator, he is also with looking for on YouTube.

This is a very sad book to read for anyone that loves Europe, its history, culture, people, architecture, etc. How could any people voluntarily allow itself to be displaced in their own homelands? The author tells the story of post-war immigration into Europe through the decades and the total unwillingness of Europe's leaders to address its long term consequences. All debate over the huge numbers of immigrants and their offspring from all over the world has been shut-down by the mainstream political parties by implying anyone who opposes this transformation is racist, xenophobic, nativist, etc.
