On a bright and crisp September morning, while walking a bucolic woodland trail, Rina stumbles upon human remains once buried deep beneath the forest floor. Immediately, she calls her husband, Peter Decker, a former LAPD detective now working for the local Greenbury Police. As Decker and his partner, Tyler McAdams, investigate the long-interred remains further, they realize they're most likely dealing with a missing student from the nearby college where Rina works. When more remains are found in the same area, Decker and McAdams know this isn't just a one-off murder case.

I don't mind the murder mystery part of the book but I cannot get into the family side of things with the food and the dinners and the religious customs - as Elaine of Seinfeld would say "yada, yada, yada" - it's too much for me.

I was once a great fan of Faye Kellerman, but the last two of her books have not held the same interest for me. I do not like the way she has brought in Tyler, the one who calls Decker 'Old Man' and Decker calls him 'the kid'. It took me a long time to finish this book and can only rate it 2 stars.

I have really enjoyed previous Decker/Lazarus novels. I've really enjoyed the discussion about staying kosher while working a murder case. This on just was not up to snuff. The relationship between Peter Decker and his wife Rina was just off and pretty annoying.

I haven't read Faye Kellerman's books for a number of years, and Peter is no longer with the LAPD. Now, in his retirement, he works as a detective in Greenbury NY. I really enjoyed this mystery thriller. It was a fast read. Four Stars!

Very disappointing.
I have found that although some of Fay's books are good, this story could have been written by a high school student.
It incorporates many of the current social issues in ways that don't make sense but seem to be used just to advance the story line. I stopped reading after a few pages.

Receiving this book as an ARC, I had not read Faye Kellerman's Decker series for a while. This offering did not disappoint. Excellent read. A well done plot, rich characters, and good writing with twists makes this series a joy to read.
Now I must go back and catch up on the books I missed.
Mystery fans- enjoy.
