For the Posts, a two-week trip to the island of Mallorca with their extended family and friends is a celebration: it's Franny and Jim's thirty-fifth anniversary, and their daughter has graduated from high school. The sunlit island also promises an escape from the tensions simmering at home. But all does not go according to plan: secrets come to light, old and new humiliations are experienced, childhood rivalries resurface, and ancient wounds are exacerbated.

Read it before. A marriage in trouble, a teenager about to enter college and a trip to Europe to hopefully work things out. And, of course they do. Nothing about this book engaged me.

This was an easy read but, as some other reviewers have mentioned, the ending was too pat.

This is a perfect summer read - it's breezy with just enough drama. As a reader you have enough invested in the characters to see the story through.

I would not recommend this book. The characters are simplistic and I noticed some similarities in the characters between this book and the author's other book "Modern Lovers". There are some good lines that are very well written. Overall, this book just reviews the banality of life and recovery after certain situations. If you want a good summer read, try "The Hissy Fit" by Mary Kay Andrews.

A charming, quick, light and enjoyable read. Many lovely observations. I think this on a million "beach reads" lists for a good reason. It's refreshingly fizzy with a touch of sharpness that saves it from being too fluffy. I read it within a few hours during a lay-over, and found it very satisfying.

As one of the books I managed to read to the very end, it's overall a light read. Descriptions of characters are realistic and relatively vivid. But I would've read something else.

Dysfunctional family goes on a trip with friends. They take their problems and irritating personalities with them. Not my kind of vacation!
