Heart warming story with a message of hope. Sidney Poitier is brilliant as usual.

Absolutely beautiful little film. Doesn't really lose anything over time. My fav.

"Lilies of the Field" may become your favorite film. It is inspirational since the subject is the life of foreign nuns traveling across the world to set up a church. Sidney Poitier is simply wonderful as a handyman who just happens to cross paths with the nuns. He surprised me with his sense of humor and musical abilities. "Lilies of the Field" had us laughing most of the time. You truly are missing a great film if you haven't seen "Lilies of the Field"!

Sidney Poitier is such a special actor. Few actors could display the array of emotions he does in Liles of the Field. What a great film for the entire family. You can feel better about yourself and the world if you; can be like Sidney Poitier in Lilies of the Field.

While the catalog entry states "a drifting ex-GI...meets a group of German nuns,' the nuns are introduced in the film as German, Austrian and Hungarian. (Why do SPL librarians [& other staff?] who write catalog descriptions make up the descriptions if they're unfamiliar with the material ~ rather than looking up source material for reliable and accurate descriptions?)

A great film. The black & white cinematography is a gem, too; thankfully it wasn't filmed in color.

Fascinating little film, always heard about it but no one I knew had ever seen it. Strange story, but very watchable. Sidney Poitier is amazing, a real star - fabulous actor. If you're looking for a different sort of film and aren't looking for anything too serious, this is it.

VERY BEAUTIFUL, heart warming story.

One does NOT need to speak the same language, when one is determined to build bridges, on the way to a common good & worthy destiny.
