Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here. It's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.

I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did! Of course I loved Fangirl, but I was worried Carry On would be too similar to Harry Potter. I needn't have worried! While there is the familiar British boarding school for magic, the rest is different enough to keep anyone entertained. The way Rowell sets up the magic is FASCINATING. Spells are magic words to be discovered, based on vernacular and common sayings. And of course the romance between Simon and Baz was completely delightful! It warmed my heart very much to see them falling for each other, especially after reading about Cath's obsession in Fangirl. I'm glad that Rainbow Rowell wrote this one, and it makes for an excellent stand alone fantasy novel!

This book made me SO happy. I am person that rereads Harry Potter almost every year and I know I'm gonna come back to Carry On as well. I read it a month ago and I'm still thinking about it a lot!

Simon and Baz are roommates at magical boarding school. And they HATE each other. Simon is pretty sure Baz is an evil vampire, Baz is pretty sure Simon is the absolute worst namby-pamby "chosen one" ever. But then... Baz doesn't show up for senior year. Now Simon doesn't know what to do without his nemesis. If you read and enjoyed "Fangirl" by the same author, you'll be familiar with the world she's created in this book. If not, it may seem eerily similar to an alternative-universe Harry Potter. Regardless, the dialogue is perfection, the romance (yes! there is romance!) is a slow build to a FANTASTIC second-act declaration, and the fantasy part isn't bad either ;) If there were 10 stars possible, I would give them to this book, I love it so much.

This book has everything I love: solid and supportive friendships, loads of magic & adventure, fascinating and complicated characters, some drama with a dragon, and a lovely Rainbow Rowell romance. This is my personal favorite book - one that I love so much, I think it is absolutely perfect. I seriously cannot stop promoting this book, so please read it, and then come talk to me about it because I will never tire of talking about Simon and Baz. The audiobook is AMAZING so listen to that, too!!

I really enjoyed this book! I thought that it was a nice homage to Harry Potter which also stepped outside the box and made its fantasy world unique. The beginning was a bit slow for me, but it's really good once it picks up.

This is honestly the best book I've ever read. The plot is fantastic, the pacing is absolutely perfect, and the characters are so well-rounded. This book made me laugh, cry, get way too excited, and everything in between. I honestly from the bottom of my heart cannot say enough good things about "Carry On".

I absolutely loved everything about Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I found out about this book because in Rainbow Rowell’s other book, Fangirl, the main character Cath read the Simon Snow series, which is what Carry On is about. The book, about a magical school called Watford, clearly bears a great resemblance to the world famous Harry Potter series, but I think that was the authors intention. I love this book because of the combined fantasy, mystery, and romance, and all of the wonderful and lovable characters. I would recommend reading this book if you enjoyed Fangirl and if you are a fan of Harry Potter. I rate this book 9.5/10 stars.

I have always been a big fan of Rainbow Rowell but I was iffy about her new book, Carry On. It's about this boy wizard named Simon Snow - the chosen one, the savior of the wizarding world - and his quest to fulfill his destiny while proving that his roommate and sworn enemy Baz Pitch is a vampire. Here's the twist, they secretly care for each other, maybe more than they should. It was a pleasant surprise to read it and enjoy. It wasn't a life-changing book and I wasn't expecting it to be because it's supposed to be an overall light-hearted book about love and destiny. None of the characters lacked any depth and while the world may share some similarities to the Harry Potter universe, it has its own uniqueness and originality that I really liked. Overall, an absolute joy to read. Rainbow Rowell has yet to fail me!

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell is my current favorite of all her novels. It distinctly shows the development of a relationship, with the perfect amounts of surprise and shock factor. I will definitely be rereading this one later.
