Its techniques recognize that most negative behaviors have a positive intent behind them that we must recognize and work with. (Because we function out of the subconscious mind around 94% of the time, and the conscious mind only 6% of the time, and the subconscious mind is a million times more powerful processor (40M/min) than the conscious mind, it takes real work to make lasting change. The subconscious mind is the habitual player of tapes that we need to rewrite...especially if we were fed negative messages growing up. p.s. When you understand all this, it gives new meaning to the development of "mindfulness" of Buddhism - conscious mind, anyone?)
