The problem? He's just about to cast the dock lines and voyage around the world on his small sailboat, and Torre is terrified of deep water. However, lovesick Torre determines that to keep the man of her dreams, she must embark on the voyage of her nightmares, so she waves good-bye to dry land and braces for a life-changing journey that's as exhilarating as it is terrifying.

Absolutely loved this author's style of writing. She's witty and funny and a very down to earth young woman who writes her story in a way that I found it hard to put the book down. She holds your interest and I look very forward to her next publication.

An enjoyable read. Its very hard to find a non fiction book that isn't a sad story. This book was light hearted and easy to read.

Roberta's Pick: If you have ever made a decision based entirely on the good-looking persuasiveness of a new lover, then this book is for you. It seems like a particularly female trait, where are the men who take up art classes, pilates, book groups, just because we love them? Torre sails the Pacific with Ivan. She is terrified of water. It is terrific romp, and it is true. Staff Pickles

Really enjoyed this book. The author who was terrified of the ocean, sails across the Pacific with her new boyfriend. It is a very interesting and funny book as she describes their journey, the emotions, their mishaps and struggles. Despite her fears, she ended up becoming quite a sailor.

What an adventure! This is a fun read about a young woman and her boyfriend sailing from the States to Australia. She is terrified of just about everything, including sharks, orcas, the water itself, and he's calm to the point of being almost careless. Between the two of them they do it, but the actions along the way are a lot of fun to read about.

Memoir is one of those great genre's that, more often than not, make us examine our own lives rather than the life of the writer.
Without exception, DeRoche's memoir is an eye-opening, funny, and beautiful look at love and the way it challenges us (even if that means sailing a boat in the Pacific ocean!)
