I loved every page of this book! If you love historical fiction and ancient Rome, this is definitely a book for you.

Very slow start wit a lot of sex scenes and sweaty bodies with little plot. Moves nicely towards the end as, inevitably, the dictator gets assassinated and some of the actual historical characters develop personalities. A fun beach read but no intellectual challenges.

I thought Mistress of Rome was a great, almost adventure-style book. It really showcased how slaves, especially women, were at the mercy of their masters. They had no lives.

Very disappointing. Not even in my category of "good trash." Pretty much cardboard characters.

I'd recommend this especially for anyone who enjoys the Starz show "Spartacus." It has a similar flavor without being as...explicit.

This is historical fiction that is fun and interesting. It is a regular Roman soap opera complete with villians that you love to hate and heros that you love. It also supplied a good dose of intrigue, dark secrets and corruption. All the makings of a good entertaining story.

Unputdownable. Quinn breathes life into a vivid part of history and strong factual and fictional characters make this series very likeable. Thrilled at the hint of a third book to come. Very highly recommended.

The best book I've ever read that held by interest at all times. When first looking at the book, I nearly left it on the shelf as it wasn't my 'normal' reading material. How glad I am that I chose to take it home instead. A bit gory, but thoroughly enjoyable and exciting.
