This is a very good old black and white movie. Funny and light hearted with very sweet ending. Heart warming. Great plot.

✅ This movie is superior to the partial remake, "White Christmas." Of course, the list of holidays has changed significantly since then. Millennials may be surprised to hear the song about George Washington's Birthday.

Directed by Mark Sandrich in 1942, this American drama turns out a completely satisfying musical filled with crisp comedy, fetching music, snappy dance routines and lavish and beautiful settings.
The composer wrote twelve songs specifically for the film, the best known being "White Christmas".
It appears like one of the best entertainment movies.

WSow, I can't believe that it's taken me this long to finally see this movie! I love it! Great music, very entertaining storyline and very funny at times. I was a little shocked when I saw the "Lincoln's Birthday" sequence that was done in black face, something you don't see much at all anymore, and with good reason. However, as one reviewer pointed out, the scene was done very tastefully, with Mr. Crosby paying tribute to Pres. Lincoln for freeing the slaves. I loved all the music, singing and dancing and just couldn't get enough of it! I wish I could find a Holiday Inn of my own :) )!!!

the comments here are a mash-up between Going My Way and Holiday Inn - some obviously so and some not

Holiday Inn is a wonderful classic, which celebrates more than one holiday. This film is the story of two entertainers, Jim Hardy and Ted Hanover. When Jim decides to turn his Connecticut estate into the Holiday Inn and opens his doors to the public, he provides entertainment on each holiday of the calendar year. He hires Linda as his partner, and the two quickly fall in love. There is a love triangle that emerges between Ted, Jim, and Linda. There is a black face dance scene that may discourage some people from watching. Let me clarify something. The film reflects its time, and its time was full of racial injustice of the 1940’s culture. Unfortunately, Louise Beavers suffered stereotypes, but managed to make a breakthrough for an African American actress. In the film, she sings her own piece on how African Americans were liberated from slavery. We should learn from this, move forward, and not let it happen again. We should not alter history. What we do today may not be acceptable in the future. The animated calendar sequences are very fun and very advanced for their time. If you like musicals, then this is the movie you should watch. 4/5 stars

This film was created in 1944 before the end of the war. It is nothing short of a brilliant piece of work touching on various elements of the era such as church, community, family, gender roles, musical genres, the penal system and having a life purpose. No special effects here-no need! This is pure entertainment at it's best. Great questions arise after viewing it. For starters, Is today's society any different?

VERY GOOD 1944 period piece drama starring Bing Crosby as Catholic priest and his new assignment to a New York declining church. Interesting plot, rather different than anything I have previously seen. This is for 'Going My Way' film.

Fantastic movie. Very fun, the songs are great, the dances are great, and it's just good clean entertainment. Such a treat to see some of the best in action!

You can find bigotry and/or racism in ALL of U.S. history if you are a liberal - Democrat. If you find the movie offensive THEN DON'T WATCH IT! Just recently I read someone had also found bigotry and racism in the Christmas movie White Christmas. There is no living in a PERFECT WORLD!
