Loula has triplet brothers, but no sisters. She asks here parents to get her one. They tell her that making a sister requires the right ingredients. So Loula sets out to set the stage. She buys chocolates, captures butterflies and waits for the moonlight. The ingredients bring a surprise even if it wasn't exactly what Loula was expecting.

The illustrations are done in pen and watercolor giving a more muted feeling. Loula reminds me very much of Eloise. She is high energy, intelligent and lives in a wealthy home.

The book was humorous and fun. This book is advertised for ages 3-7. But the humor and the illustrative style is a bit mature. I don't know that 3-4 year olds would understand much of the book. I think it would be best for ages 5-8.
