"Picking up where A Story Lately Told leaves off, when Anjelica Huston is 22 years old, [this book] is a chronicle of her glamorous and eventful Hollywood years. She writes about falling in love with Jack Nicholson and her adventurous, turbulent, high-profile, spirited 17-year relationship with him and his intoxicating circle of friends. She writes about learning how to act, about her Academy Award-winning portrayal of Maerose Prizzi in Prizzi's Honor, [and] about her collaborations with many of the greatest directors in Hollywood, including Wes Anderson, Richard Condon, Bob Rafelson, Mike Nichols, and Stephen Frears"--

Thought she was name dropping too much and a little full of herself.
If you want to read about a celebrity who is full of herself read this.

For insight and depth, see Love Child by Anjelica Huston's sister Allegra.

Yes, somewhat disappointing. I think Nicholson got to her and told her not to write anything about their private life together (sex and drugs). And ever the people pleaser, she agreed. Instead he allowed her to make him out to be the mean, insensitive, awful cad that he was/is.
Overwhelm them w/scenic descriptions and they won't notice lack of content. Didn't work; we noticed.
Even so, Anjelica appears to be a sincerely wonderful, lovely person and someone I would want to have as a friend.

First of all, Huston is not a writer, so this book's an awkward read at times. Secondly, and surprisingly, it can get really slooowwwww. The parts about Jack Nicholson are the most boring..... there's a disingenuousness to her protests about her on again, off again relationship with him. Even YOU know how it will end. And you wonder to what extent it's the way she wants it, too. And rather than all the, "we flew here, the hotel rooms were nice/not nice," "we saw this, we saw that," which you can get from any guide book, there had to be a lot of insight into film making and films in general and all the characters surrounding her father and her, that would have been enlightening to the average reader..This book is really a diary that she kept rather than an adult reflection on the times and her privileged exposure to some of movie's greatest innovators. There is little insight or depth here, which would have made it a better book and one that would have lasted.
