A tender read, Rain Reign is a great story for tweens exploring their own identity and exploring how to be themselves without the fear of being ridiculed or shunned for what makes them who they are. Rose's love of homonyms at times seemed like borderline obsession, but finding the right person, in this case her uncle, who encouraged he quirky interest, sparked a lot of self-confidence and enthusiasm to be herself. Also a great read for those with autism or those who would like to learn more about living with autism.

I like homonyms, but not as much as Rose Howard! Rose is eleven and has high-functioning autism. In addition to homonyms, she enjoys prime numbers and rules. Her teachers, classmates, and her own father just do not understand her. The only ones who do are her Uncle Weldon and her dog Rain.

As I read this book, I felt many emotions, from sadness, anxiety, and anger to happiness. There were many times throughout the book that I really wanted to punch Rose’s father. I also found myself wanting to hug her, because even though her home life was terrible, she perservered and ended up making a very brave and selfless decision!

I would recommend Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin to anyone! I feel that the author does a phenomenal job a writing from the perspective of a tween on the autism spectrum. Readers will find themselves cheering for Rose as she struggles to understand a quite confusing world.

Hey, Rose Howard, you are my hero!

It's not easy to fight for truth.
It's not easy to step out of your comfort zone.
You've done both with a triumph!
Good for you, Rose!
Thank you for sharing your story with me.
I'm very proud of you.

Your reader *☺*

I read this in a single afternoon. I thought Rain was a well-drawn character and her Aspberger's was very well-portrayed. Highly recommend for fans of "Wonder."

I was extremely disappointed in this book. I grew up reading Ann M. Martin and assumed I'd absolutely love this story. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Because this book is told from the point of view of a high functioning autistic child, the other characters were stunted. The main character's inability to read people and understand the complexities of their individual character traits translated to flat, unlikable characters.

I also felt that parts of the plot felt a bit contrived and forced. I wouldn't recommend this book.

I hate it when a writer puts little kids in danger, but I got to admit Ann Martin makes a good story of it.

This book was boring. It's confusing with the lots of homonyms, and isn't as interesting as I anticipated. It's not the greatest book, but it's not the worst.
