This is the 3rd Stella Rimington novel that I have read - having missed the 1st five she wrote before I even knew she existed. I am now way down the path of being a huge Rimington fan. As I noted in earlier reviews of 2 other books of hers, I appreciate an interesting spy novel full of the nuts and bolts of how an operation runs, without being overly long or detailed in the telling. I also enjoy her novels because they lack the James Bond-like hijinks that too often appear in this genre in their telling. Now I like those too, for entertainment. Reading Rimington is just great storytelling and well developed characters without enormous leaps of faith or jumping over tall buildings in a single bound. Each of the three I have read have a different underlying theme. This one is about the intersection of gun-running and acts of terrorism. I have one more already published book of hers to read, her most recent, and hope by the time I get around to that one, she will already have another out. Great writer and CLOSE CALL is a great read. Enjoy.
Word reaches Liz Carlyle at MI-5 about arms shipments that may be coming into the UK for use by jihadists in a terror attack. Another page-turner!
