Cute story

There are few worse things in a dog's life than the "cone". This is an experience they all face at one time or another, and one that they universally dread. Now it is Mister Bud's turn. He does not understand that it is for his own good, all he knows is that he can barely see, he can't reach the yummy treats, and playing with Zoro is absolutely out of the question. Zorro on the other hand finds this all too funny, and certainly the artists depiction of Mister Bud validates this reaction. All we see of Mister Bud's head is his rather large nose poking out of a very deep cone. While this is quite funny, we are also made to feel sorry for him. His restrained actions are a stark contrast to Zorro's freedom. As Zorro scampers around his friend causing trouble, we only feel more sympathy towards this coned dog. Like the other Mister Bud and Zorro books, the two sometimes get along, and sometimes don't. The layout usually portrays the state of their affairs by placing them together on one page, or by splitting them up onto opposing pages. Of course, things do work out between them in the end. Once again, the author effectively uses this silly pair to capture the joys, and the plights of a dog.
