After decades abroad, renowned ballroom dancer Pierre Dulaine returns to his hometown of Jaffa, Israel, nostalgic for the streets of his youth but dismayed by the strong current of racial animosity that now serves as the norm. Fueled by his belief in dancing's power to build self-esteem and social awareness, Dulaine brings his popular Dancing Classrooms program to three diverse, Jaffa-based schools where he teaches ballroom basics to the ethnically mixed population of children.

The seed of peace starts with the young. It was touching, funny and I even cried a little. I highly recommend this movie.

A truly wonderful heartwarming film. Shows the humanity on both sides Palestinian and Israeli which is often missing in today's informative world. The hope for a better future for the region is through the children. this film shows one way how. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A hopeful look into peace between Palestinian and Israeli children, renown ballroom dance champion, Pierre Dulaine goes home to Jaffa, a divided city. With modern Tel-Aviv in the background, Dulaine explores Jaffa, Tel-Aviv's more ancient sister city bringing ballroom dancing to 5 schools with the hope that Jewish and Palestinian children (and their parents) will realize that through dance they have more in common than issues that separate them. The turning point may be a wonderful scene where he brings a former partner, (a wonderful women, Yvonne-- think Audrey Hepburn), and to the awed expression of the kids, dances around the former bomb shelter as if on clouds! There are personal stories which tug at heartstrings, but also small triumphs which make this a film very much worth viewing.

A moving tale filled with hope. Children learning not only about differences but about self-esteem, confidence and hopefully for some the love of dancing. Nicely done!

This is a story less about dancing and more about people. It was cute seeing how the boys and girls reacted to the thought of dancing with each other, where culture and religion took a "back seat" and children of different religions and cultures in Jaffa danced with each other. The children came away learning so much more about themselves and each other with feelings of self esteem and confidence. I hope you too will enjoy watching "Dancing in Jaffa" and have the opportunity to recall your first dance.
