An easy-to-read book that chronicles an attempt to strike it rich in the Yukon by two young men from well-to-do families. By acting quickly and having ready access to (family) capital, these two young men made it to Dawson before most of the other stampeders. The account is heavily based on actual diary entries and letters written home. A refreshingly level-headed account of what is was like to arrive in Dawson City just before it became a complete human zoo. Well written and generously illustrated with large pictures.

Stanley Pearce and Marshall Bond were in Seattle when the first gold from the Klondike Gold Rush arrived. Within a week, they were on their way north, hoping to make their fortunes. Their story is told partly through their letters home and Marshall Bond’s diary. Illus. with period photos.
