The conclusion was of particular interest to me especially the immediate risks posed to society as well as the long term ones. The range of time is what makes this work exciting. A good change of the daily short term concerns which most people are preoccupied with. And one of my favorite quotes: "We realize what’s happened only in retrospect” with respect to the tipping points and the rising sea levels as one of the risks in the next century or so.

The story of the physics, chemistry and biology that make up our planet earth. Well written and interesting throughout. Worth reading if you are interested.

The earlier chapters are the most readable; later on the author becomes rather technical. Nevertheless, this is a good resource for those wanted to solidify their awareness of current understandings of earth science and our astronomical origins.
