This is definitely not the best of the series so far. I've been enjoying most of the Kurt Wallander series, but found this one hard to slog through. It just did not hold my attention. I am reading the next in the series though, so hopefully it will concentrate more on the detective work and less on political machinations in other countries. (South Africa in the 1980's in this particular book.)

Not as good as his first book. Some parts were unrealistic.

Just started reading it, never had picked up a Kurt W novel before and am I ever enthused about the beginning. Fast paced, yet thoroughly detailed, wonderful moments that pointedly define the characters. Looking forward to diving deeper into the novel and perhaps more Kurt W mysteries.
