When a troubled model falls to her death from a snow-covered Mayfair balcony, it is assumed that she has committed suicide. However, her brother has his doubts, and calls in private investigator Cormoran Strike to look into the case. A war veteran, wounded both physically and psychologically, Strike's life is in disarray. The case gives him a financial lifeline, but it comes at a personal cost: the more he delves into the young model's complex world, the darker things get - and the closer he gets to terrible danger...

Outstanding novel! I really enjoyed this audio edition; the narration made this novel come alive.

Really enjoyed the audiobook and the English comedy in this crime solver. Looking forward to hearing the next one

Possibly I was expecting too much from this author. I felt that many comments were frequently repeated. Not a page turner for me, but good reader.

J.K.Rowling found another genre after the Harry Potter books that she can show her talent in. She expertly spins the web like a spider around the culprit. The story is more enjoyable as an audiobook due to the masterful narration. Can't wait for the third book in the series (Career of Evil that will be published in the Fall of this year).

Really enjoyable audiobook, Robert Glenister is probably the best narrator I have listened to; a very good grasp on the various English dialects.

Liked this atmospheric piece. The diverse characters rang true, especially with the accents... Only weakness was the ending, which was surprisingly (and needlessly) self-indulgent.

This was a fun audio book to listen to. I enjoyed the narrator and felt like he did a good job portraying all the characters. I'm glad I listened to it though because I feel like this works better as a listen than a read.

Such a stupid ending. It was very disappointing since it was well written and the characters were very likable. I was going to read The Silkworm as well but I won't bother now.

I loved this book. It is beautifully written, with great characters. I liked Strike and his new secretary a lot, and they made an interesting team. I wasn`t entirely convinced by the killer by it doesn`t matter to me. I think good characterisation within the detective genre is what appeals most to me.
