"Mike Duffy made his name as a political reporter, and in the process became one of Prince Edward Island's most famous exports. He cast himself as the ultimate insider, Parliament Hill's man in the know. It made him a household name as a political reporter for CBC and CTV, one of Canada's best-paid journalists. But Duffy wanted to get even closer and lobbied his way into the Canadian Senate, with dire results. Veteran journalist Dan Leger tells the story of Duffy's rise to the top in Canadian media, his entanglement with the Harper Conservatives, and the scandal that made him one of the most controversial figures in contemporary politics. Includes a foreword by CBC’s Peter Mansbridge"--Provided by publisher.

As much an indictment of Stephen Harper's integrity as Mike Duffy's .An excellent insight into the ways that people who compromised themselves have been rewarded & summarily dismissed by the PM when they became liabilities

This book feels rushed in places, in the sense that it was a rush to publish, but it is a good accounting of how Mike Duffy, one of Canada's most respected journalists, descended into his own oblivion. He started as a neutral reporter but with his infamous interview with Stephane Dion dropped any pretense of neutrality and proved that he was a Conservative shill. A major surprise is that Duffy lobbied for a Senate seat as far back as 1983 when Mulroney deposed Clark as Conservative leader. The author also recalls Duffy's dream of a Maritime Union when he was supposed to be speaking up for Prince Edward Island, and the lengths he went to to try to prove his Island "residency." The takeaway is not just Duffy's ego but his sense of entitlement and his willingness to go after anyone who challenged that.

Still alot of cover-up in the senate scandal, just a taste of backroom deals. The senate was put in place for a good purpose and poltics should be removed.
