Don't look for great acting in this movie. I am not a very good acting critic (most acting seems pretty good to me)... but Mandy Moore and Kellan Lutz's acting was overdramatized, simplistic, and just poorly done. Jane Seymour does an admirable job, and is believable.

I expected this movie to have the sappy sweetness that typically saturates most romantic comedies, and to a certain extent it did, but it also had an honesty that both surprised and delighted me. Marriage is complex. It's not successful all the time, and you often give up parts of yourself to make it work. This movie displayed all that by allowing us to follow several marriages in varying stages, from the newly wedded Mandy Moore and Kellan Lutz to her veteran thirty- years-married parents Jane Seymour and Josh Brolin.
Having said that, it did have the standard, syrupy fairytale ending for two characters, but that's ok.
Kellan Lutz's acting has improved and Mandy Moore was excellent, but the breakout star here was Jessica Schzor. She owned the role of the "slutty, spongy sister."

Caprice Crane wrote this, and as I'm a big fan of her books I thought I'd check this out. It was pretty good, a bit whiny at parts, typical chick flick. I liked James Brolin quite a bit though...
