It's the greatest literary mystery of all time: Who wrote the works of William Shakespeare? Although the official story of a Stratford merchant writing for the London box office has held sway for centuries, questions over the authorship of the plays and poems persists. Derek Jacobi leads an impressive cast featuring Vanessa Redgrave and Mark Rylance on a quest to uncover the truth behind the world's most elusive author, and discovers a forgotten nobleman whose story could rewrite history.

PBS* has once again added to the vile pool of misinformation and revisionism by any suggestion that a commoner was incapable of writing what Will Shakespeare wrote, it must have been some inbred lord who wrote it instead! Much ado about nothing, as clearly Shakespeare wrote Shakespeare, Harvard ninnies notwithstanding!

Roland Emmerich, the executive producer of this mockumentary has dressed up opinions as though they were facts. "Last Will and Testament" really is just an infomercial for his 2011 film "Anonymous". Every actor who appears in this film was in "Anonymous" and are just hired shills for the ludicrous premise. As for the "scholars" their principal arguments are ad hominem attacks dressed up in blather when they are not just plain distortions. Emmerich's real achievement is getting PBS to be associated with this pompous claptrap.

PBS has done it again very well done documentary. This movie was interesting, informative, and worse seeing!! I recommend this movie for all to see. Well worth the price of admission to any theater.

this is the First time I saw this evidence all laid out like this.Fantastically well argued. loved the quotes from twain and james!! I was completely convinced. When that guy says if if the plays weren't written by Stratford Will, then god wrote them, he handed the whole argument to his opponents. That's fantastic editing for the film makers to highlight that comment. To those academics, for whom Shakespeare is god, they don't take kindly to having their stratford god challenged. what a riot--they worship a chubby little grubber from Avon.

A somewhat timid exposition of what should be an undeniable fact: that man from Stratford-upon-Avon couldn't possibly be the greatest writer in history!
