A very well written book - even though its about 450 pages long, it certainly doesn't feel that way. Each chapter looks at a map from a cultural anthropological point of view but also gets into the gritty aspects of how it was made. Thorough notes, not enough images.

When it was interesting, it was fascinating. When not so interesting, I went to sleep.

So esoteric I almost didn't finish it, but I'm glad I did. Lots of details on map-making from Hellenistic times to Google Maps, and lots of history too.
