A straitlaced high school senior decides to break free of the mold when she discovers a diary left behind by a girl who, ten years ago, disappeared right after her high school graduation. As she seeks answers to what happened in the past, she works out her own troubles and confusion. Very nice. Follows a fairly cliché story without being cliché (though I found the ending a little too pat). I find it terribly amusing that it seems to be based on Mary Oliver’s line: “What will you do with your one wild and precious life?” The amount of college application essays I had to write on that single line . . .

This book was just what I needed to rejuvenate my love of reading. A little mystery, a little romance, and a lot of self-discovery. A great book for young readers and young at heart readers. I highlighted several great quotes, and would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I read the back and nearly died. I mean, it sounds so perfect I just can't even... and the cover. I mean really, can it get any better?

This book. Was beautiful. Nearly all the way through it, in the last 3/4s, I was iffy. I wasn't sure if I'd end up loving it or if it'd be an eye roll. Of course, there was enough goodness in it to keep me reading, but I wasn't sure I'd LOVE it.
And I did.
I'm a girl who loves journals, who keeps one, who wants with her everything to find an old journal of a teenager of long ago, blah blah blah, so I really loved the whole journal part (which I think is the best idea, way to go Kinney!!).
Anyway, I was wondering if it'd be cheesy, but it was actually really good. It was totally believable, the writing is so beautiful, each chapter began with a portion of Robert Frost's poetry... I loved it.
I was slightly like 'really?' that P & Kat could have been friends that long without doing anything 'crazy'.
*spoiler!*
And couldnt get why P didn't kiss Trevor back? Because she was so sad I'm GUESSING, but that could have been shown a little more.
