Season two returns as the Great War rages across Europe, and not even the serene Yorkshire countryside is free from its effects. The men and women of Downton are doing their part both on the front lines and the home front, but the intensity of war only serves to inflame the more familiar passions of love, loss, blackmail, and betrayal.

Such emotional highs and lows, joys and sorrows in a swirling rich mix.

Loved Seasons 1 & 2. Acting, costumes and LOCATION outstanding. Especially enjoyed the extras describing Highclere and current owners.

Interesting reading of British WWI experiences are Anne Perry's series of 5 novels English Mysteries historically correct: No Graves As Yet, Shoulder the Sky, Angels in the Gloom, At Some Disputed Barricade, We Shall Not Sleep.

I requested seasons 1, 2 and 3 from the Library and got season 2 first. I knew very little about the series except it kept popping up in The View or Hot in Cleveland so I thought I'd give it a try. I was a bit lost at first (not knowing the key players) but I caught up to speed very quickly. The acting, costumes and directing are superb. I wonder, though, were people actually like that? My favorite character was Daisy.

Loved this season... season 3 is just depressing at the end... Cant wait for season 4!!

Despite liking this a lot, I did not like this quite as much as season one because their were too many soap opera plot twists that felt like predictable soap operatics, but the WW 1 setting and all the changes in Downton Abbey were fun. Definitely worth watching and I will be watching season 3 with great pleasure, I hope.

I love this series just for the fact that it is historical. The costumes, mannerisms, dialogue, etc. are all very appealing. Many story lines are very cliche, but at least it's taking place in a beautiful, gorgeous setting!

The classiest soap opera around. FIVE STARS.

Great series. A must watch. If you like Upstairs Downstairs or Dynasty you will love this show.

My husband and I are hooked. The suspense, emotion and romance makes this series a guilty pleasure to watch!

Simply put, it's a bit soapy but a grand production and quite addictive. Maggie Smith is especially wonderful, but of course she gets the best lines.
