A terrific retelling of Cinderella. The familiar parts of the story are that Cinder is an orphan with a nasty stepmother and two stepsisters, and there's a handsome prince and an upcoming ball. But the author's imagination takes off on steriods. Cinder is a dynamic, courageous cyborg with a robot companion, and she's a master mechanic. There's a horrible plague sweeping the kingdom and a powerful Lunar queen who's even creepier than Cinder's stepmother. Enjoyed the depth of the characters as much as the plot.

Cinder is a beautiful re-telling of Cinderella set in the futuristic world of New Beijing with humans, cyborgs and lunar people that reside on the moon with otherworldly powers of control.

The premise is good, and the characters are compelling. The true fault of the story is how obvious the twist is (You'll guess it in the first couple of chapters), and that it doesn't get revealed until the end of the book. There is no conclusion or wrapping up of the story, just the surprise twist that you saw coming. On it's own, the story was fairly disappointing due to the timing of events.

A truly great audiobook! This Sci-Fi re-imagining of Cinderella does fall into some predictable plot structures at times, but has an inventive premise of the state of the world (and the moon) in a few hundred years.

Thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook version of this Cinderella retelling. Although I figured out the final "twist" early on, I still continued rooting for Cinder and Kai. This is a cinematic story and I had to check to see that it's not (so far) being made into a movie. If you enjoy fairy tales and sci fi, this is absolutely the story for you.

I'm not sure how I missed this book (and the ensuing series) when it came out, but I'm glad I stumbled across it. Marissa Meyer's creative re-telling of the classic Cinderella story was fun. On to book #2!

I had tried reading this book once before and don't know why I was unsuccessful. Listening to it now as an audiobook, I am riveted. I already have a hold for the next one. Audiobook may be the perfect medium for this, it is fantastic.

I love this series. It was mixed up and different and very well written.

This is the first audioBook I have listened to, I really enjoyed it actually, I at first thought it would be monotone and google-voice flat. I found out I like people reading to me!, I had read the book before, But listening to it, I now think of it a bit different, But I do think the lady pronounced some words wrong, But I am still happy with this.
