Cyndi talks about her painful past living in an abusive household, and how her songs were a direct reflection of her life with all its ups and downs.

Interesting story but really rambling. The time keeps jumping back and forth as the author remembers more anecdotes. Every chapter is way too long. Sounds like she had a rough childhood and difficulty in the cut-throat music business. I think she was ahead of her time in terms of fashion and style. One thing I never knew is that most of her famous hit songs were not written by her. Either she rearranged the music on songs that others had written, or she co-wrote with a partner. At the end of the book it is revealed that she filmed a reality show. Hopefully it will revive her career.

Although I enjoyed reading this book, I found Cyndi tends to jump from past to present and then back to past so you really have to pay attention.
