One of the more interesting Batman stories to date, Arkham Asylum features some very dark imagery, interesting art work, and well written dialogue. If you liked the gritty and sometime uncomfortable feel of the most recent Batman movies, this might be for you.

You kind to have to bear with the font with this read. I found it hard to read at times and had to go over it a few but to me it kind of made it more of a compelling graphic novel to read. Each character had "their own" kind of font exuding what they are like as a character. The story and art is definitely for a mature or adult crowd. I liked how they incorporated some of the back story of Arkham into it. It's a dark and gritty read.

Crazy art and creative type for the dialogue -- but because of the latter, it needs subtitles. I gave up on reading it -- trying to interpret the dialogue slowed my reading down to a crawl, and I got bored.

I also found the "Is Batman a great man or just insane?" personal-angst theme really hackneyed. Readers who've never really thought about that may find the notion absorbing.

Although I was more frustrated than intrigued by this story, the graphic elements definitely invoke a mood!
