When birthdays or holidays roll around kids start to dream about piles of loot and can often tell you exactly which 53 things they must have to be happy. We know that about 20 minutes after receiving everything they think they want only 2 or 3 items will make it into regular play rotation. The rest will gather dust. If you've ever experienced this phenomenon with kids and you want to ease them gently into the "not so much" lane of consumerism then More by I. C. Springman is the perfect book to read with them.
Magpie starts out with nothing which makes him kind of sad but then a mouse friend gives him a shiny marble and he happily moves on to having something. Then he gathers more and more and lots and lots of things until his nests (yes, he has storage nests) have "plenty". Does he stop there? Oh, no. Magpie keeps on going with "a bit much" to "way too much" and on to catastrophe. His mouse friends intervene and help him reduce the rubble until he has "enough".
Beautifully illustrated by Brian Lies this simple, eye catching story can help start the conversation while you laugh with your kids about the silliness of just plain too much stuff.

Less is More. Spare language on large illustrated pages covered with "stuff" brings home the message. Great for toddlers!

An entertaining, non-preachy picture book for preschoolers about the dangers of over-consumption.

A gorgeous picture book on amounts and when "enough is enough!"
