Good for Beginners.

Bottom Line: You will understand much more about black holes after you read this book. Drawback: an unneccessarily snarky tone around edges (requires a voice all its own in the audiobook.)

"So...if a black hole isn't a hole, then what IS it? If you have the slightest interest in science generally, space in particular, or in anything so strong that "no army of tow trucks, no convoy of supersized earth haulers, no fleet of giant rocket engines" could out-pull it, you owe it to yourself to read this book and find out. It's amusingly written and easy to understand, but it doesn't shy away from presenting meaty scientific concepts that you'll need to grasp before you can contemplate the mysteries of these "extreme gravity zones" of outer space. For more fascinating reading about black holes, check out Ellen Jackson's The Mysterious Universe."
