I inadvertently got this book, thinking it was the beginning of a series, but decided to read it anyway. I was satisfied with the story as a whole, and though I probably won't go back to read the other two in the series, I would encourage anyone to read them in order.

I felt the world was a very well thought out extrapolation of our current world (or at least 2014 when the first book seems to start). The idea that government or big broadcasting (Sinclair ) could control the news leads to a new type of journalist, motivated to find out the truth. Their main vehicle is the internet, and essentially private blogging, seems very logical. The third book takes place some 30 years after the initial outbreak. While the novel takes place in a war zone of zombies, the journalist fight and die for a glimpse of the truth and expose it to the world.

The George clone is an interesting idea but I'm not sure it would actually work. But I'm glad she's back and more or less herself. My heart broke at the end of the first book. I didn't really see the relationship between George and Shaun but I like it. It seems right. As for the "bad guys", it's a great treatise on why it's wrong for part of society to have limitless power with no oversight. They were literally getting away with murder and nobody realized it.

I also find her zombies theory a lot more scary since any mammal over 40 lbs, alive or dead, can become a zombie. You don't need to be dead first, you can convert into a zombie while you are still alive. I'm not sure which of these ideas would disturb me more. The thought that any pet or wild animal, even herbivores, can become a zombie... Or that if you suffer any kind of trauma the zombie virus already inside you can ramp up production.........

I really liked this series - great entertainment value. I read books to escape, and these took me into an exciting world of government subterfuge in a somewhat dystopic future. I, too, was sorry to finish the series, as I will really miss the characters. All three books are a great storytelling read.

I loved this series and this book was definitely a fitting end to it! I would totally recommend that you give the series a try even if you don't love the zombie theme.

Blackout delivers a satisfying conclusion to a thrilling and emotionally captivating series. Satisfyingly, no questions are left un-answered, and a prequel has also been released (sadly, only on e-books). Although the description makes the book sound a lot more exciting than it is action-wise, the focus on the characters and their development is very enthralling. A great book.

I liked this one more than the second book in this series.

Such a fun read!!! I enjoyed every minute of the book. The author captured the action so well my heart was pumping. Georgia and Shaun are my zombie world Katniss and Peeta.

first book, amazing, second book OMG AWESOME, final book, HOW can the plot thicken so close to the end??? absolutely INSANELY GREAT!!! and i'm not even a zombie fan! i'm a NEWSFLESH fan for life now! then they tell you there's an ebook-only, COUNTDOWN, that is a prequel, during the rising... not available in libraries... only 2.99 on amazon... it's a novella, MUST read it after this astounding journey! zombie fan or not, this is a MUST READ series.... contains adult language but otherwise teen-friendly...
