Zimmermann was a designer who stressed independent thinking. She outlines the construction and little more, in the hope that you will feel free to experiment and take your knitting in new directions. These garments serve as a jumping off point for you to knit a version in any size, and make it your own.

Even if I hadn't just read "Knitting Architecture", I wouldn't have failed to notice the architecture of EZ's designs. Each design when combined with the techniques section in the back is a master class. Luckily, my current project is clearly inspired by "the school of EZ", or I would be setting it aside indefinitely to start something in garter stitch!

While some of the patterns may be outdated, EZ's innovative, creative approach will keep on inspiring knitters.

Think garter stitch is plain old and boring? These patterns are creative and will clothe you from toe to head. Lots of sweaters for those who hate fussy patterns, you'll even see a couple knit by Princeton Public Library staff members.

Patterns are OK, but nothing remarkable. Cute baby's jacket in orange/red/yellow.

This is a great book for a knitter who wants to think outside the box! Elizabeth Zimmermann's approach to knitting is innovative and unique. I was delighted to see all of the interesting ways to use garter stitch! Highly recommended.
