This book deals with a number of people who normally only get a gloss in the standard Titanic works. For example, I learned things about Thomas Andrews that I hadn't known. The author has a definite pro-British bias and doesn't think much of Sen. Smith's hearing - isn't it interesting that 100 years later there's still such feeling about that?
A timely and excellent addition to Titanic literature. Well researched and well written. My only quibble is that I would have liked to have seen more of the photos he refers to in the text. As it is, the book does include several I've never seen before. As the title indicates, the focus of this book is the people who were associated with the ship. It's divided according to chapters on the shipbuilders, the sailors, the people in each class, etc. An enjoyable, easy to read book with new information. Highly recommended.
