Many people feel called to help others and change the world, but they just don't know how to fulfill their potential. They have the creativity and passion, but often get lost, not knowing how to direct their energies. Now, life coach Martha Beck shows how readers can find their calling in service and healing--while realizing their destiny. Beck draws from a combination of ancient wisdom and modern science to help readers consciously embrace vital skills that may be embedded in our DNA and are now made accessible again. Beck shows how to put together an "inner team" and an external "tribe" of people with the same aims and outlines four simple Steps for Transformation: Wordlessness, Oneness, Imagination, and Creation.

This was my last Martha Beck book to read. She is so great!

First of all, finding your Way in A Wild New World, is a fantastic title. Inside, Dr. Beck shares her concepts of the 4 technologies of magic.

Disclaimer: read Steering by Starlight first, and then this book. It's not necessary, but this book will then become more personable.

Martha Beck, Ph.D, received her B.A., M.A. and Ph.D from Harvard. In this book, she writes about Wordlessness and writes that words are... "the products of a dualistic mind-set". "Wordlessness shifts consciousness out of the verbal part of the brain..." ... so you can ..."connect your consciousness with the deep peace and presence that is the essential you." She adds that..."detaching from verbal thoughts eliminates almost all our psychological suffering." She says that Nature can heal. And she explains Forming... in the material world.

There were some valuable exercises that are essentially based around awareness and meditation... However, when things got very "new-age-y", and there was talk of controlling animals with the mind, and bending spoons, and all that kind of thing, it really lost me. Be prepared for a lot of unscientific, "it's true because I and other people believe it" kind of things. If you are able to get past a lot of that, it's an OK read.
