A new angle on knitting!

Emerging knitwear designer Mathew Gnagy presents a fresh collection of fifteen projects for women and men with Knitting Off the Axis . The projects are both classic and stylish, incorporating clever combinations of textured stitches and design details.

Each of the fifteen patterns is designed in a one-of-a-kind way, focusing on knitting sideways or in an untraditional direction rather than the usual top-down or bottom-up construction. Knitting at different angles gives the projects unique shaping and fashion-forward silhouettes.

Learn new techniques for knitting sideways and every-which-way and make fifteen contemporary, wearable patterns with Knitting Off the Axis .

The knitting method is novel and creates some lovely effects. The instructions seem clear, and the diagrams and photos are useful. Weak spot is design - I cannot see how the womens' sweaters would be attractive on any body shape - they're unflattering even on the models. The mens' sweaters, particularly Felix and Jose, are new takes on classics and are very attractive.

Terrific book of both patterns and techniques that will fascinate and inspire knitters for a long time. This is definitely not a beginners book, these are not "quick and easy" knits but the competent knitter will find themselves stretched and educated both in "breaking out of the box" design and wonderful technical knitting.
