With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie Stackhouse witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover, Eric Northman, and his "child" Pam are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot--which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up once again in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human--and that there is a new queen on the board.

Wow! So many different elements to this story.
And all at once!
Really enjoyed this book!
Thank goodness one of the more annoying Vamps and Weres have been 'taken care of''.

I really enjoyed this. It is a great continuation of her series. Sookie has a hard time dealing with more family problems, but she puses through. Can't wait until the last book finally comes out.

Don't be dissuaded by the awful book covers or sometimes luke warm True Blood television series based on the Sookie Stackhouse series. They are all worth reading!

Ok. I am curious about who Sookie will wind up with and so will definitely read the next two.

This is by far an awesome read. For a series of more than ten books it is so great.

This book was ok and the only reason I read it was because I have read the other books in the series but I feel like ever since the bombing in Rhodes the books have gone down hill it was nice to learn more about her fey background but truth be told I am SO over the damsel in distress routine. Sookie keeps putting herself in these crazy situations instead of trying to find away out. It's time to walk away from the vampires Sookie and walk away from the fey!

I thought the book was a bore. I had to struggle to stay awake to finish it. The story was such a drag. There was not enough action. Usually the books are better than the movies or the shows that are based on them. Not in this case. True Blood is way more interesting.

Fun as usual! This time though I found the book MOVED really fast....lots o lots of action going on. You hit the ground running. Only one love scene for Sookie and Eric her Vampire Husband. She broke the Bonding link though and now I am afraid for her. LOL Great book as usual. Can't wait for the next. This was my First Kindle book read check out from my Library. (pats self on back) =)~

"how shall we go about this?" Dermot asked. He was blond and Claude was dark; they looked like gorgeous bookends.

How to sum up the past two days '"horribly amazing or amazingly horrible?" I wasn't sure - Sookie

Someone has firebombed Merlotte's; some drugged out thugs are sent to snatch Sookie; and that's just the beginning! Sookie has to figure out who is targeting her, while helping Eric come up with a plan to get out from under Victor.

Emotions are running high. There's a schism between Eric and Pam, and Sookie knows she has something to do with it. (The basis of their discord, when it's finally revealed, is real kick to the gut!) At the same time, Pam is trying to gain permission to create her first vampire child. And there are major developments in the blood-bond issue between Eric and Sookie.

Sookie is coming to see how much she has changed since the supes have come into her life. Much of what she's done has been necessary to her own survival, but she's not sure she likes who she's become. Things are strained between her and Eric. I've been Team-Eric for as long as I can remember, but the cracks are forming. That's an understatement, really. We see what can easily be the mechanism to separate them once and for all. But things are left unresolved. I just wish Harris would just rip the band-aid off already. I've softened towards Bill, though I can't see the two of them ever reconciling --and we even have a surprise appearance from another potential suitor. But when all is said and done, I feel like we're just getting more groundwork laid for Sam as an eventual HEA. Sure, he's got a girlfriend here, but he is now firmly ensconced as Sookie's best friend. I feel like it's just a hop, skip and jump from becoming something more.
