I usually do not read detective stories but I really enjoyed this book.
Det. D.D. Warren and her partner in crime were fascinating characters.
A great story of passion & crime and a great ending. I will definitely be reading more of her novels as long as there is not to much tragedy in the story line. I finish reading this book in Sept 2017

I really enjoyed this quick read.

I think the story was interesting enough, which kept me reading.
The thing I didn't like about the book was 7/8 of the way through the book the author leads you down a single storyline and then bam! Out of the blue, it changes and DD Warren and Bobby suddenly have the light turned on and follow a different angle.
I really didn't care for DD Warren; she was way too brash, and Bobby was way too passive.
But....I gave it 3 stars because it made for an interesting read.

THIS is the book that made me a fan of Gardner. Slow first half BUT Great second half.

I was at first put off by the 1st half of this Novel. I put it down thinking I was done with it. Later I figured what the heck, picked it up again and was not disappointed. The second half was so good! I am now a fan of Lisa Gardner!

This book by Gardner got laborious at places. I love Gardner though. She is an amazing writer and the way she write these mystery books is so good. This one kind of seemed a bit off.

I enjoyed this story and characters, I recommend reading it prior to her "stand alone" book Touch & Go so you know the characters background. I read it in a day.

By the time I finished this book, I felt like I had been tricked, and not in a good way. The intention was to reveal more and more as time went by but the changes in point of view weren't labeled so it was extra-jarring and having the POV character only reveal part of the story while pretending to reveal the whole thing at that particular point felt like cheating on the part of the author. For a much better example of changing points of view, read "Into the Darkest Corner" by Elizabeth Haynes.

I have one other Lisa Gardner book around here to read - someone gave me a paperback - and I'll try it to see if this one was representative - in which case, no more - or if it was a fluke.
