

Tehran, during the Shah's regime. Bahar, an impoverished but optimistic teenaged Jewish girl, marries wealthy Omid despite the misgivings of both families. Bahar is rejected by Omid's society friends, is humiliated when Omid takes a lover, and is disgraced when her daughter Yaas gradually becomes deaf.
