"Land Girls" is a British series about girls who go to work on a farm during WW2. The mistress of the farm is a total uppity snobby jealous woman who abuses her staff & the girls. Her husband, of course, cheats on her with one of hired farm girls. There is the usual drama involving woman & serveral plot twists are envitable. The wife gets her just desertss in the , the husband suffers & the farm girls end up all the right. Justice is served.

Compelling comedy/drama/adventure/romance of the WWII girls who worked the farms while the men were away fighting the war. Those who have trouble understanding their speech need English 101 in audio because it is not difficult to understand. 9 out of 10

Good luck with your copy. The copy I got doesn't work on my computer, and there are no closed captions, so about 1/3 of the dialogue is beyond me. Not a riveting series, but not bad either. It does feature "normal" people, only one attractive woman and only one presentable male (Inspector Lindley star) and you have to appreciate that. However, after Call the Midwife one expects better of a BBC production in terms of creating endearing characters.

Considering the noble proclamations of sacrifice, I expected something touching and compelling ( Especially considering the excitement in other reviews). Instead this was a performance of mediocrity with atrocious acting.
I couldn't watch past the second episode.

Rated 9/10.

I watched two episodes in season one before I decided that this story wasn't that compelling...if you're going to waste time watching a show - there are better shows.
Disclaimer: I don't like Downton Abby either, so you can gauge from there.

I love this! I just finished the third season and am disappointed that there isn't more. Think Downton Abbey meets All Creatures Great and Small.

Unfortunately, no closed captioning nor any subtitles.
I found this series enjoyable nonetheless.

Enjoyed this continuing saga. Wish there was a little more in the way of explanation of the disappearance of some of the characters. I thought the singing bits well done. Guess that means I like cotton candy (:

Well, I guess I only have myself to blame. Why I thought series 2 would be better I don't know. Much of a muchness - the same candy-box pretty countryside, the same caricatures of society - nothing has changed. Except - the new character they introduced - oh no. So loud, so raucous, so badly acted I found myself fast forwarding thru her every scene. Her accent veers all over and believe me, 7 cats in a trash can parked next to a running lawn mower would sound far and away better than her singing. I had to quit halfway thru episode 2. Give this a miss unless you're looking for cotton candy for your brain.
