I liked this book, although I don't agree with everything she says. She's clear and interesting and somewhat quirky in her Southern US way. I like her concern about animals, and even the way she keeps the local foxes healthy in order to hunt them on horseback (without killing them most of the time). It's arguable that it does more for the foxes than simply ignoring them and it certainly helps them more than selling the land they live in for development. She's a tough opinionated middle-aged woman and I admire her toughness and feel sympathy for her beliefs even if I don't share them all.

This book is not bad, as long as you don't mind hard-right political rants throughout a book about animals.

Interesting to hear about her life and her animals, and to see how these come through in her fictional books.
