Trisha is a forty-four-year-old woman at the end of her rope. Peter, a dashing Russell Crowe lookalike, is married and an editor at the local paper. One day, they bump into each other and swap souls. From 1960s London (wild parties, no money) to 1970s Somerset (animals, wild parties, no money), Weldon interweaves her rich and adventurous life with Trisha and Peter's blisteringly funny predicament.

What would happen if a young, handsome, successful man switched bodies with a ditsy, struggling middle-aged woman? And what would his ambitious wife do with this odd pair who end up in her home? Exploring her fictional heroes’ predicaments, Weldon inserts episodes of her autobiography. This curious hybrid demonstrates once again her talent for reinvention, all the while poking fun at her own shortcomings and keeping us tremendously amused.

If you like Fay Weldon you will love this book. It has her usual wry observations delivered with a one-two punch that will leave you laughing. The parallel story telling is a little unusual but she does a good job of keeping the reader straight and the technique adds to the book. The premise of the fiction story is odd and unbelievable, but don't let it stop you from picking this one up.
