Life couldn't be better for Lucinda Purefoy. She has a steady boyfriend, a university degree in social work, and the offer of a high-powered job in advertising. But Lucinda thinks she should do something nobler, which is how she hooks up with the Social Carers, Reformers and Praeceptors (SCRAP for short), an organization that recruits women to become mentors to ex-convicts. Soon, Lucy finds herself standing at the gate of Wormwood Scrubs waiting to greet Terry Keenan, a career burglar. What happens next confounds all expectations and produces a signature Mortimer tale full of wit and surprise in a clever novel about how some people go wrong trying to do right. Quite Honestly is John Mortimer doing what he does best - writing provocative, brilliant, hilarious fiction about crime and punishment.

The premise is good. The complete reversal is original and quite funny, honestly. The thing gets out of hands when with each chapter we have a review of what we knew already. This gets tiresome after a while. I still can't see why after the split between Lucy and Terry she doesn't wake up and realize that all her time in prison is for nothing. And the happy ending... Well.

Cleverly written but I did not enjoy the format... he thinks/ she thinks and the sarcasm about the inadequate prison system is too sad to laugh at.

I enjoyed this humorous, satirical novel. It is a light novel, but still interesting nonetheless. The author makes fun of crime, religion, etc.
A fun read!
