This is the story about the "King of Rock & Roll".

(John Lennon quote) - "Before Elvis there was nothing."

Do you realize that if Elvis Presley were alive today (he died in 1977 at the age of 42) he'd be 82 years old? I don't know about you, but I find it kinda hard to imagine Elvis, the pelvis, at such an advanced age as that.

This book called "All Shook Up" (which is only 138 pages) is a fairly interesting read. It concerns some of the more notable highlights in the life of the original "King of Rock'n'Roll" (none other than) Elvis Presley.

I certainly won't give away too much of what is written here in Roy Blount's book, but I will say that there are 2 points about Elvis that did surprise me.

(1) When Gladys Presley gave birth to baby Elvis, she also delivered (35 minutes earlier) an identical twin named Jesse who was stillborn. The knowledge of his dead, twin brother greatly troubled Elvis all of his life.

(2) In 1956 (because so many citizens had voiced their concerns, through letters, about Elvis being a threat to the security of the USA) J. Edgar Hoover actually investigated the pop star. You'll be relieved to know that Elvis came out of this enquiry with a clean slate, but the whole affair resulted in a classified, 700-page file/report.

Anyways - Enough said. If you are at all interested in finding out more about Elvis Presley, then this book is certainly well-worth a read.

Elvis wore both a crucifix and a Star of David (on the same gold chain) around his neck. When asked why, he replied - "I don't want to miss out on heaven because of a technicality."
